How to use anal toys
While most sex toys are pretty much "plug and play," anal toys require a few extra steps if you want to use them safely and responsibly. This beginner-friendly guide will walk you through everything you need to know about using an anal toy.
Buy some lubricant:
Lube is an absolute necessity when it comes to any form of anal penetration. The anus doesn't produce natural lubricant, so you'll need to provide your own. While you could use any lubricant in a pinch, anal lubricants are the way to go. Anal lubes are thicker and last longer than regular lubes, making them much more effective when it comes to anal penetration. Some anal lubricants also contain numbing agents like benzocaine to deaden your senses so you can focus more on pleasure.
Most experienced users of anal toys simply wash off with soap and water beforehand. Contrary to popular belief, fecal matter is stored in your bowels, not your anus. As long as you wipe thoroughly after using the bathroom and maintain good hygiene habits, you should have nothing to worry about. If cleanliness still worries you, you can always get sparkling clean with an enema or anal douche beforehand.
Take a deep breath and relax:
It's natural to be a little nervous - especially if this is your first time using an anal toy. But those nerves cause your sphincter ring to contract, making it much harder to insert your anal toy. You can relax your butt with a little gentle teasing. Lubricate your pinky finger and sphincter. Slowly massage your sphincter ring until it begins to relax and open. Gradually insert your pinky finger as you continue to massage it. When your ring contracts again, stop inserting your finger and continue massaging until it opens again.
Grab your anal toy:
Once you're relaxed, it's toy time! Apply a generous amount of lube to your anal toy and sphincter. Use the tip of the toy to gently feel in and around your sphincter. Slowly insert just the tip and see how it feels. When you are ready to continue, begin moving the anal toy in small, gentle circles to create a massaging sensation. Gently insert the toy deeper as you continue the circular motion. Be sure to take it slowly so your body has time to adjust. And be ready to stop if it becomes uncomfortable. It's better to be safe than to risk hurting yourself. You can always try again another day!
Clean Up (Again):
When you are done, remove your anal toy slowly and carefully. Wash your anal toy with antibacterial soap and water immediately after use. Then also wash your bottom with a soft, warm cloth to relax your muscles.
